Henry Builds a Cabin

Hello All,

  The Henry Builds a Cabin Activity Website is based on the recently
released picture book, Henry Builds a Cabin by the award winning author
D.B. Johnson. It is a book for all ages because of the multiple layers
about Henry David Thoreau and his cabin building at Walden Pond. The
Activity Website engages students in lots of hands-on, minds-on, and
technology-based learning. There are primary sources from the Cornell
University Library Nineteenth Century Periodicals, Concord Free Public
Library, and Thoreau Institute at Walden Woods. QuickTime movies of the
author, Thoreau (portrayed by Richard Smith), animals, and original
building materials from the vault at the Thoreau Institute at Walden Woods
round out a resource that brings the life of Thoreau to students of all
ages. We hope you will enjoy these activities.
