Last week I posted a question asking how many school libraries put the =
reading levels and points for the Reading Counts or Accelerated Reader =
program on the books. Here are the results of that survey.
18 put both the reading level and points on the book either on the cover =
or inside the cover.
20 put the reading level on the book
10 did not put either the reading level or the points on the book or in =
it
8 did not put points on the books
Many people described methods of using colored coded dots on the spines of =
the books to indicate the level. Many people average the reading levels =
into grade levels. several epople have folders with the title of the =
books and point values for the quizzes which students use to select books. =

Both programs Reading Counts which is a Scholastic program and Accelerated =
Reader which is a Reading Renissance program have Web sites where you can =
find the reading levels and points for each book. The Reading Counts Web =
