I have weeded over 900 books which is a fraction of what needs to go. While realizing that everybody's collection is unique to the school and that needs vary, I am still curious how you would go about evaluating what is needed in your library. My superintendent has spent a lot of money on AR at the lower grades, so I have asked him to allot money to the high school library because I would like to get rid of 30+ year old books and the "orange" rebound ones that no one will check out. Then there are the 10 to 15 year old books in technology, fashion, etc. that are out of date as well. I am supposed to give him a "priortized" list of must haves with a projected cost. I have gotten a selection list from Mackin (they are nice people) and am working on that. We have about 10,000 volumes and are a high school of 850 students. I look forward to hearing your suggestions.
