While we're discussing this challenged book, how about similar books? We =
recently purchased Augusta, Gone by Martha Tod Dudman at the =
recommendation of a teacher. It covers similar territory, has good =
structure and has a little easier conclusion. There must be others?=20

Well, I agree and I disagree. As I stated, I do not like the book - the =
characters are weak, there is no development. I don't believe any of =
Alice's actions or reactions. The plot is a potboiler, the language is =
less than exciting. On a VOYA scale I would make it a 2 or 3 Q, 5P.

As the book never circulates and I don't push it, it may be time to get =
rid of it. Reactions I get from High School students concerning the book =
is, "This is a stupid book..She should know better."

I do agree, however, that liking a book or not should not be criteria =
for purchasing or retaining a title.

I just don't think Go Ask Alice is a well written book and with tight =
money I would not purchase it today.

Allan
