Also, there are some on-line slang dictionaries that may bear looking
into.

Subject: Target: meaning of "wet week"

I am reading a novel called Almonds and Raisins by Maisie Mosco about
Jews
who moved from Russia to Manchester England in the early 1900s.
Twice they have referred to a "wet week": "Why've you got a face like a
wet
week?"
What does this mean? A search on Google did not good, as I thought from
the
start! Neither does Scholastic's Dictionary of Idioms.
Any ideas?
