Oh yes to add, I agree with Dawn Sardes and remember that the public =
library's copy of slj might not be just sitting out but making its way =
through the staff. Don't just look around, ask the librarian to check with =
her co-workers if the current issue is wandering and not at the reference =
desk.
And yes, I do sympathize with tight budgets but perhaps a campaign for =
professional development money selection aid money that is not book budget =
money might be an option. And if it seemed that I had all these review =
journals journals to myself, I do not, they are a shared resource for the =
teachers and librarians.

Regarding the SLJ price hike--Call your local public library--ask them if =
you can stop by after school to look at a copy (we buy about three =
subscriptions).  I know I'd be only too happy to have a copy available for =
you to look at, and I'd be happy to copy some pages.

I'm sure that your public librarians would be thrilled to have this time =
with you and...maybe arrange some booktalking school visits???
