I suppose you are trying to help students reach their goal. And those =
above 10 GE or ATOS are getting frustrated. A colleague at our site also =
is a rep for Renaissance. I discussed with him and others at the recent =
conference the same frustration. Word being passed down and agreed to by =
many from Renaissance and at the conference was that H.S. students =
reading at or above grade level should not be hampered by avg. book =
level goals and the like. Just keep them reading and they will progress =
naturally as they have. Use your professional judgment in recommending =
books. Create recommended reading lists based on State lists or College =
reading lists to guide them. Show them the best seller lists and then =
look up reading levels. Why would they be so low? Marketing!=20
