For those interested in reading book reviews, try Library Talk by Linworth.
All of the articles and book reviews are written by librarians so you get
the librarian's point of view rather than a professional reviewer's point of
view. I stopped subscribing to SLJ several years ago due to cost and take
Library Talk myself because I would rather spend periodical money on
magazines that are of interest to students and teachers, not just myself.
At our K-8 school we subscribe to Mailbox, Copycat, Learning K-8, and other
professional periodicals that are reasonably priced but I don't subscribe to
expensive professional journals that interest only one or two teachers.
