I made a short video with 7th graders for a course I took last semester.
The hint I have is to get parents to sign permission slips saying it is =
ok
for their children to be videotaped.

Please post a hit if you receive any replies! I need to do something
similar, only with 4th &5th graders. The previous "Media Specialist" had =
a
very different approach to teaching than I do- she stressed the =
technology,
but not the planning. I want these kids to know how to do more than run =
a
camera- I feel that they should be able to thoughtfully plan and =
critically
evaluate their projects. I'd appreciate anything you can pass on.

=20

I don't know if it is possible...but it might be easier to buy a Mac =
which
includes the free "I-Movie" program. This program is very easy to use. =
If
you are planning to do digital editing on windows based machines you are
looking at purchasing a video card and a program which will probably not =
be
as easy to use as I-Movie.

=20

It was with interest that I read your request for PC video editing
software. I would love to have a recommendation. I took a video editing
class recently, but we only used MAC software, and the school I work in
only has PCs. I feel clueless, because the instructor couldn't even
recommend any PC software. Thanks for your help!

I bought a great JVC digital video camera this year and it came with =
some
video editing software and recommendations for more sophisticated =
software
as well.

=20

I personally prefer the Pinnacle Studio line of editing software, they =
have
several versions (www.pinnaclesys.com), but have been forced to use the
software that comes with iMac in my class (budget restrictions). There =
are
several other lines than the Pinnacle one and I've tried a few (uLead =
and
MGI come to mind) but found Pinnacle more comfortable to use. The more
expensive versions include Adobe Premiere as part of the package. There =
is
also a program that comes with Windows ME (and I think 2000) that seems =
to
be okay, but I've only glanced at it.

Mac is used by many people in the industry, but there is a myriad of

Would appreciate your posting a hit re: editing programs. Pinnacle =
(notes at school) has won PC magazine award and was recommended by a =
friend who edits frequently, but is much more skilled than I am. I'd =
like to know what our media specialists think.

Based on what kind of funding you have I think that the Pinnacle DV500
