Here's a weird problem: I got a $1,000 grant for retrospective
conversion as a part of joining a union catalog. With a previous
grant, I sent all my brief records to Marcive, but there's no way to
send out all these books that need to be entered. I want to pay a
parent volunteer to put in extra time finding the MARC records at the
various places we get them. My principal says she doesn't know how
it can be done. We can't put her on the payroll. Can she be paid as
a consultant? Principal doesn't know if any of this is possible. I
am not about to turn down $1,000 when I need my backlog MARCked so
badly. Has anyone been in any similar situation and how did you
solve it? What proposals can I suggest to my principal and the
superintendent?
