My two-cents(or maybe less).

I was raised to know that there must be always be a balance. I have
worked in a "library" for the past 13 years. I know what I do on a daily
basis, as well as the impacts young people have had on me and I on young
people.

The article makes me appreciate (moreso) why I work in the library. I
know information is power, and knowing how to access information is the
path to power.

North American Indian people have had barriers to information for too
long. Maybe the editor and newspaper don't TRULY understand why we
do-what-we-do and how we do it. But we understand it.

The part that we have to take responsibility for is this: Why would the
editor take a shot at Librarians and the educational program? Did he have
bad experiences with libraries or no experiences in libraries?

Lastly, do we now use his words to become angry and defensive? Or, do we
use his words to uplift us and give thanks. Personally, I'm thankful for
his words, because they do provide a balance as to why we do-what-we do
and how we do it.

Yawa'ko (Thank You)
