Google Unveils "News Search" Beta http://news.google.com/ Another week goes by and something new from Google. Today, a beta of a searchable Google news database. It can be accessed at http://news.google.com or via a box on the Advanced Search page. According to a company spokesman the database is refreshed with new content every hour and contains material from over 100 English-language sources. Material comes from "open web" sites including Newsday, San Francisco Chronicle, The Guardian, Chicago Tribune, Washington Post and Reuters. Each entry includes a time stamp of when the content was first crawled and links to related articles (if available). You can learn more about Google News Search via this faq http://news.google.com/help/about_news_search.html. Syntax? It appears that the Google limit syntax works with the news database. Examples: intitle: terms in the headline intext: terms in the text of the article site:cnn.com limits from a particular source (if available). We will keep testing a report back later.
