You know, my son was a teen during the Menendez thing. Everytime we came down on
him for something, he would say that he "knows that he's adopted and his real
family would come for him some day." (He's not adopted)So, one day, I asked him to
sit down because I had to tell him the truth about his parentage. He turned
absolutely white and serious, and I told him, very seriously, that he was, indeed,
adopted and that his actual last name was Menendez. He laughed so hard he fell off
his chair. Ever since, every time Lyle or Eric get mentioned, he calls to ask if I
saw that his bothers were in the news again.
