Re: need source "March Madness"

here is my request from one of my English teachers:
"Oh Great Goddess of Infomation, do you think you could locate the source of
the term "March Madness" (basketball) for me? (Please?)

I search Google under 'phrase origins', and came up with nothing.

Any help you can send me would put you right up there in that "Great Goddess
(or God) of Information category. won't you feel special?
