Hi all; I subscribe personally to a magazine "Computers in Libraries". The March 2002 issue has an article titled "Opacs on PDAs?". The article outlines a= number of uses for PDAs such as Palm Pilots for everyday librarian functions. For example it talks about combination palms/bar code scanners= - you can "check in" an item right at the shelf. Another lets libraries wit= h TFID tags in the back of book "find" the book by scanning the shelf with the palm. The mention a shareware program to keep track of books and due= dates, which runs on a Palm. I found it to be an interesting article both with some "stuff" to try and= just to see what is up and coming. The magazine is somewhat pricy BUT they often put the most interesting articles up on their web site and FORTUNATELY this article is there.
