Dear LM_NETters: I wanted to add to the discussion on grading in the library. In our elementary, our students are given plus or minus on their grade card for special classes. In the secondary school, grades 6-12, I would like to see teachers adopt a rubric when students research in the library. My rubric would include: Uses both print and computer resources. Uses print preview to limit pages printed. Follows instructions for assignment. Limits use of copier. Keeps chair legs on floor, feet off tables. Treats library personnel with respect. Asks teacher or librarian for help instead of wandering around aimlessly. Shows self-sufficiency in locating and using resources. Does not abuse library materials by tearing out pages, marking on pages, etc. When finished with assignment, does not bother others. Evaluates internet resources before using them. Writes down bibliographic information as resource is used. -- Kay Goss Director, Library Media Services Mansfield R-IV Schools 315 West Ohio Avenue Mansfield, Mo. 65704 417-924-3236 Ext. 311 E-mail fup001@mail.connect.more.net =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
