Colleagues,
I have a student who wrote me the enclosed email message. I am convinced
the title he is looking for is "The Rough Face Girl" by Rafe Martin. He
says it's not. HELP!

He writes:
"I've been looking for a paticular book for the
read-aloud and still have not come across it. I
cannot recall the title, author, or even the genre of
this book (well, I believe it is a Native American
Mythology). It was read to me in 5th grade, and all I
can remember about it was the wonderful illustrations.
Each painting/drawing in the story had hidden images.
Example, a backgroung of a landscape: the trees,
waterfall, clouds, are filled with human/god faces.

Another thing I remember.. there was a white horse in
the story. I wish it rings a bell. I have been
looking into, the Rough-Face Girl, by Rafe Martin.
Thinking that this book was the one I'd been searching
for, but not close. Boo Woo!!"

So, if you have an idea, please email me (not the list). Thank you so
much!
