Good morning all. Our school district is planning a referendum. As
part of the plan, our main gym will be converted into a 5th - 12th grade
media center. I've been asked to come up with some ideas for the plan.
I already know that they plan to have a very open area. In other words,
the middle and high school students will not be physically separated
even if the collections are. I would like input on this. I would like
to know if any of you have experience with this sort of library space.
I would like to know what you consider the positives and negatives of
such a plan. Our high school has about 400 students and our middle
school has about 300. In the past, those numbers have been fairly
stable. I do not know how they are planning to staff this space. That
will not be addressed until after the referendum passes. Thanks for the
input! It will be a great help.
