I missed a couple of replies so I've included them here. Sorry!

In reply to your dilemma, I am at a middle high school (6-12) in New =
Hampshire and we subscribe to Grolier's online. It is great! The best =
part about it is the site includes websites that have been editied by =
the Grolier staff and are "safe" accurate websites. This is huge with a =
middle school population. It is more costly than the CD but can be used =
by whole classes at one time and I have done lessons with my 8th =
graders- World War II- and they are all searching the encyclopedia at =
once. It is great! I have no worries when the class is on this site and =
the web sites are excellent as well as the information in the =
encyclopedia. There is also a feature that allows the user to get =
related periodical articles. I love it. See if you can get Grolier to =
give you a trial and cut you a deal. Good luck! Sally Sessler, Gilford =

I use the World Book Encyclopedia (network edition) and purchased an
updated copy this year. Check with your local World Book representative
for pricing.

You're probably already aware of this but, just in case, thought I'd =
mention that Grolier bases their online fees on a school's population in =
grades 3 and up only. Wonder if that would allow their services to fit =
within your budget? Their online package is great since it includes =
Ency. Americana, Grolier Multimedia and New Book of Knowledge. I know I =
must sound like a Grolier rep but we've had their online encyclopedias =
for three years now and the package is wonderful, especially because of =
the web links. Hope you find what you need.
