One of my first grade teachers asked me to give her class my lesson on = picking *Just Right Books* - I show them how to look at the cover, the = dust jacket flap, the pictures, then reading the book with the five-finger = method to decide if it's one they can read independently. I gave the = lesson, answered questions, and sent them out into the stacks with their = shelf-markers. One little boy took it all very seriously and I could see = him pulling title after title, opening the book and trying to read and = holding up fingers. I finally got busy at the circulation desk checking = the books out. That same little boy finally got up to the counter and = handed me his two books. He had a huge smile on his face and told me = proudly that he found some Just Right Books. When I looked at the books to = see what he'd chosen I realized he'd gotten two copies of the SAME book! (PS: I had some returns waiting to be shelved and gave him a different = title in the series in exchange for one of them!) Have a happy weekend! = susan Susan K. S.
