These are just the first few I received - I will post more if I get more or I
will post ideas as I find them elsewhere.
Thanks to all of those who emailed me.

The first thing you want to do is go to
www.beatrixpotter.com
It is a =very= fancy site, with sound, animation, and so on,
so it takes awhile to load, and you need plugins for it, but it
is quite wonderful.

I don't have any decoration ideas but I recently read several Beatrix
Potter books to my Kinders and we talked about the details and tiny animals
in her pictures. Then I gave them each 1/4 sheet of paper and colored
pencils and had them draw a nature picture. They did a really good job

A must:
http://www.peterrabbit.co.uk
Check it out!

Next year we are planning on using the theme "The Other Potter" to
promote the Beatrix Potter theme (new harry book due in fall of 02)
haven't yet worked on ideas yet, will send ours but maybe we can get
some ideas rolling from the group. I hope you will make a hit and we
will keep in touch.

The 1999
July/August Schooldays had some info on the author

I just had my (very crafty and artistic)library aide recreate Mr.
McGregor's garden on a table in our library. We used foam board to make a
white picket fence (attached it to table with blue tacky stuff) I found
small garden tools and a metal watering can in the craft section at
Walmart. She copied and enlarged Mr. McGregor and Peter, then colored them
with colored pencils (watercolors would be appropriate, also). She made a
wooden-looking sign telling the unfamiliar that the display is "Mr.
McGregor's Garden." I found some attractive seed packets to serve as row
markers. Some little clay pots might also look good in the corner. For
the garden rows we shredded green paper and crunched it up. I had some wee
bitty stickers (I think that's what the card catalog, Current Inc, calls
them) that included some peas, egg plants, carrots, and bees and other
insects that were then attached to the green "vines" It's quite attractive.
I plan to show part of The Tale of Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny video
to my first graders next week. I love the beginning since it portrays an
actress as the "real live" Beatrix in period costume and setting and shows
how she created the stories to "cheer up little Noel." Then I like to talk
about how the video came much later than the original letter-stories and
how they were turned into books and how Ms. Potter requested the size small
enough for a child's hands. (I found that fact in one of our author
biography reference books.)
