I agree with everything that Barbara said (and she did it in a much shorter message than the one I didn't send <grin>). Except, ... don't throw out the catalog cards. You can do two things with them... 1... Save a classroom set (about 30) of the various types of cards. Laminate them in plastic and use them to teach the students about the format. Why??? I'll bet that the various achievement tests haven't found out about opacs yet. 2.... Use them for scrap paper and notes. Think of the money you'll save your school, after you automate and don't need them anymore. 3... Save the card catalog itself. It's good storage for small items or arrange to sell it. Yes, people will actually pay the school for it and take it away.
