Unfortunately, some companies are cutting back on quality. Some years ago
my previous high school purchased some new textbooks for Advanced Biology.
Those books cost nearly $50 each, and after one year they were falling
apart. At first we blamed book bags, since the books were quite large. Then
we noticed that even the teacher's edition was falling apart, and that book
never went into a book bag. We took one of the books apart, and discovered
that the "binding" was nothing more than a bit of glue on the edge of the
pages. A complaint to the publisher didn't help much. Wish I could remember
what book and company it was, but was nearly 10 years ago.
