It looks as if Type to Learn is the favorite

===
Sunburst's Type to Learn and Type for Fun also get good reviews from
parents I know.

I would recommend Type to Learn over Mavis Beacon. It is more sequential.

I would recommend Type to Learn by Sunburst. This product has been around
awhile but is still the best typing teacher I have found. Kids can't jump
ahead if they haven't met a minimal level of proficiency at a level -- a
problem with Mavis Beacon.

Our school uses Type to Learn, a Sunburst product

We use Type to Learn 3. Waaaaaay better than old Mavis.

We are using Type to Learn 3. I like it.

Our school is using Type to Learn. It can be set up to track the progress of
multiple students in multiple classes.

We use Type to Learn in our Mac lab. However, my 14 year old does instant
messenger with her friends and you should see how fast she can type!

Hi!
I'm an elementary librarian/ computer instructor and have been in charge of
keyboarding for 3rd-6th graders. I have used Typing Tutor with my old
Macintosh's and now have All The Right Type. Either one I have been very
happy with. There are even programs for the K-3rd graders that are very
simple I've heard.

Mavis Beacon is still available - purchased a copy as a gift at Christmas

Mario Teaches Typing is a good one.

For the younger end, Read, WRite & Type is excellent -- it teaches
keyboarding whle reinforcing letter sounds. It's got a fair amount of
genuine research behind the design, too. (http://www.readwritetype.com)
