As we come to the end of the 5th (!!) year of the SUNLINK Weed-of-the-Month Club
(May's topic was posted earlier today--the last for the 2001-2002 school year), I'd
like to take this opportunity to thank publicly all those who make this work for so
many media specialists in Florida and around the world:

The entire SUNLINK staff who took this on in addition to their everyday
reponsibilities--as a labor of love--and in hopes of improved collections
everywhere!

Linda Miller, Associate Director of the SUNLINK Project who writes the
rationale each month, comes up with sections to weed, finds suggested titles for
re-consideration and good, recommended positively-reviewed new titles in the topic
area...

Carol McWilliams who helps determine topics for each month, posts the Weed
announcement to LM-NET, maintains the Weed-of-the-Month webpages and persons the
SUNLINK email...

John Prevosk for his expert opinions and who continues to train media
specialists throughout Florida how to use SUNLINK for so many different reasons and
who is the calm, professional, and knowledgeable voice on the end of the SUNLINK
toll-free phone line....

Kathy Katz, our eagle-eyed proof reader (among her many other talents) and
Matt Renfroe, our webmaster....

Sandy Ulm, Florida Department of Education, the SUNLINK Task Force and the
SUNLINK Advisory Board for their support and creative ideas....

Mike Eisenberg who inspired the idea in the first place!...

and, so many of YOU...who contribute ideas and additional titles for
consideration and re-consideration...who send of great stories of "things dug up
while weeding"...who look forward to the first of each month and the new
Weed-of-the Month topics and guidelines to the extent that you EMAIL us when it
doesn't appear on time...who have linked to our
Weed-of-the-Month webpage...who cite Weed of the Month in your collection
development policies and weeding guidelines...who really use Weed-of-the-Month!!

It's been 5 great years of a collaborative effort that works for everyone! We look
forward to seeing you all in the Weed-of-the-Month Club again in the fall.....!!
