Hi, I have a teacher who needs to find a historical fiction novel for our new 8th grade honors program. She wants a novel dealing with progressivism--so Wilson, Roosevelt, etc. but told me should would also accept U.S. Imperialism, westward expansion or the Spanish American War. So far I've suggested some Willa Cather novels. I've done some searching in our library, but in our school district classroom sets of novels are held to a very high standard and what is acceptable in the library is not necessarily acceptable for a classroom set. I also looked in the archives but she wants a challenging novel and I found more high/low suggestions for historical fiction. (And, of course, she needs this information as soon as possible :-) Thanks in advance! Eileen R.
