Dear Netters,
I come with a request and a very heavy heart in hopes that one of you
will be able to point me to some helpful resources. I have checked the
archives and some on-line bibliographies and still haven't found exactly what
I want.
In my K-2 building, we have a second grader (one of a set of identical
twins....one of 4 sets at that grade level) who has just been diagnosed with
a malignant brain tumor. Does anybody know of any books, written at that
level, that would be helpful.... especially the twin without cancer? I
really like Barbara Park's Mick Harte book as it is written from the point of
view of the twin left behind to pick up the pieces after his death, but that
is way too old for my "littlies," and we are trying to remain hopeful
despite the current prognosis.
I realize this is a very specialized request.....but will post a "hit"
for the archives in case someone else has to make such a search. Please reply
to me off-list. Any suggestions from any folks who have dealt with this in
their building would be welcome also. We are a very close-knit building and
everybody (especially this child's teacher and her twin's teacher) are just
reeling.
