Job Announcement: St. Bernard’s School seeks a full time librarian starting with the 2002-3 School year. Background: St. Bernard’s, located in Riverdale, Maryland at the intersection of Rt. 410 and Kenilworth Avenues, is an urban, Catholic school of approx. 250 boys and girls from grades K through 8. The Library contains a newly automated (Sagebrush’s Athena) and updated collection of almost 4,000 books and audiocassettes. There are three PC computers with Internet & CD-ROM access and printing capabilities. One is dedicated to Circulation and Librarian’s use; two are for catalog, student research and staff use. Scope of the Position: The librarian teaches weekly classes on a fixed schedule for grades K-8. She/he will: · Collaborate with classroom and special area teachers for designing an integrated library curriculum. · Continue to select materials reflecting student needs. · Be responsible for maintaining catalog of materials, accession lists, and other record keeping specific to the library/media center. · Develop Library lesson plans, grading rubric and evaluations for Grades 6-8 (Library grades are integrated into Language Arts grading). · Work as a member of committees and instructional groups as necessary. Qualifications: · Master's degree in Library Science (did you prefer/ want State.
