If LM_NETers can answer this question, please send answer to nchambers@seattleschools.og Thanks! --=20 Sue Weiss Librarian Ballard High School Seattle, Washington 206-252-1121, fax 206-252-1001 sweiss@seattleschools.org Sue--Is there a good listserv to post this question to? =A0I recently read Carlota by S. O'Dell, which in a foreward, he says is based in part on the life of Luisa Montero, who lived in southern California, near Mt Roubidoux, in the early 1800's, who may have been present at the Battle of San Pasqual= . I did a search in the Los Angeles Public Library Catalog, etc. =A0But have found no info on Luisa Montero and family. =A0I would think there would be some info somewhere. =A0I'm thinking a librarian, particularly a children's o= r school librarian in S. California may know of this story. =A0Unfortunately, O'Dell is no longer with us, & I can't determine where he found his info. =A0Info on the Battle of San Pasqual, he notes, are from the memoirs of Kit Carson & =A0a Lt. Emory, topographer with Gen. Kearny's Army of the West. It's also surprising that there is so little literature based on the early californios & vaqueros.
