How many listmembers have seen Michael Moore's latest film, "Bowling for
Columbine"? I saw it two weeks ago and highly recommend it to every
educator, not to mention everyone else in this country who might be the
least bit concerned about where we are headed. While the unchecked
availability of guns in the U.S. is a major point in the film, the deeper
reasons behind the gun mania and the evidence of the levels of fear that
have been perpetuated in this country (and its trail throughout recent
history) is most startling. It is quite the wake-up call and the issues
raised are absolutely huge. It's too bad that it isn't getting a wider
release. Unfortunately, too many people are more interested in being
entertained than they are in being informed.
Apologies if this has already been addressed on this list, but I did search
the archives and found no mention of it. This morning on my way out the
door I heard that this film will be the topic on today's Oprah Winfrey show.
I don't usually watch it but today is one day that I wish I'd set my VCR to
record it. I'd be interested in hearing some feedback from the list.
