I want to work with 3rd graders on a storytelling unit. I am having trouble with a series of lesson ideas. I can come up with 1 lesson and then I draw a blank. Lesson one: Talk about a good story must have a beginning, a middle and an ending in which the audience can tell it is the end. Talk about the storyteller must have expression in the voice, make eye contact and use some body language with the story. Demonstrate by telling a story. Then talk about what the storyteller did with these elements. Then I get stuck: What can I do next, other than ask children to select a story, practice and tell to the class? I am sure *something* needs to happen. -- Mary Croix Ludwick, Librarian B.B.
