Learned Colleagues, I need an explanation, yet again, that 3rd graders can understand, about why fairy tales and poetry are not housed in the Fiction section of the library. I KNOW it's because they are classified as literature, and Dewey is a classification system, and all books with a number on the spine are NOT non-fiction; but how can I explain it to kids???? Help! TIA, Fran Hipp, Librarian (Yes, I put "librarian" instead of School Library Media Specialist, because after last week, I would really NOT like to see another computer for a while!!!! Who knew that I would really not need a Library Science degree as much as I would need an Electronics/Computer Technician degree???) H.E.
