Do you and teachers at your school want to:

- Integrate technology in classrooms to support
active student investigations on real-world issues?

- Earn low-cost credit while creating a curriculum unit
for your students and discussing ideas with educators
  across the country?

If so, please pass along this non-profit program announcement.
In past years, library media specialists have played
a key role in participating in and organizing school
teams for this program, so we appreciate your time!

* Winter 2003 PDA LInC Online course (January 7 - April 15)
Tuesday online class meetings, No Travel Required.
5 graduate credits at $120 per credit ($600 total)

* Summer 2003 PDA LInC Facilitators' Academy
Face-to-Face in Joliet, IL (outside of Chicago)
  1.5 graduate credits

The PDALInC program is an innovative approach to instruction
designed to challenge teams of K-12 educators lead teachers,
technology coordinators, staff developers and library media
specialists, international and university educators to create
engaged learning projects that incorporate the best uses of
technology. In addition, the participants, as school/district
leadership teams, create a plan for their school or district
to disseminate what they have learned.

The online course is highly-interactive as educators use Internet
tools to share ideas with colleagues across the country while they
design projects and publish their work on the Web. Each team also
has a facilitator to provide guidance during the process (with a
1:6 or better facilitator:participant ratio.)

To date, over 450 educators from 28 states have participated since
the program was started at Fermilab in 1994. The program focuses on
helping educators develop projects that promote active student
investigations on real-world issues using technology to research,
collaborate, and publish. Sample projects from past courses are at:

Please forward this information to any educators you know that
might be interested in participating in this program.
Applications and further information are available online at:

Past program funders have included Fermilab, Friends of Fermilab,
U.S. Dept. of Energy, IL State Board of Ed., NCREL, NCRTEC, and NSF.
