I am completing my studies to get certified to move from grade 5 teacher to Media Specialist (elementary school level ). I have taught in the classroom for 15 years (grades 6 and 8 also). I fully understand that the library and media specialist are an interactive resource that/ who should collaborate with all teachers for curriculum based projects that are subject integrated. This, by its very nature, does not generally allow for a "standard" text. My question: Do any textbook series, curriculum series, or materials exist that would be similar to a textbook series to act as a basic structure for the "library curriculum?" I have traditionally taught collaboratively on subject integrated projects with colleagues and understand that as a Media Specialist a majority of my job will be this type of teaching. However, a base curriculum would be helpful. Do you agree? Please respond with any comments and suggestions. -Mark Teacher, Grade 5 Southard School, NJ mmagliozzi@howell.k12.nj.us =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
