I am currently teaching a graduate Administration of School Library =
Media Programs course for Longwood University in Virginia. Many of =
these students will be completing their endorsement/master's programs =
upon finishing this course.
Before they finish, I would love to hear from new library media =
specialists (1 - 3 years) about surprises that they encountered in their =
first library jobs. What were the tasks that no one had told you about =
or trained you for? What responsibilities did you have that had not =
been mentioned in your preparatory coursework? Despite your training, =
what was still a surprise to you with your first years on the job? =20
