Hi Everyone, On 11-22 I sent this message: One of our elementary schools hosts a Spanish/English immersion program. We have purchased all of the books we can find in Spanish available in regular library bound or publisher's hardback bindings. We have found several more popular sets available in paperback only. However, for use in the library, we would like to have them bound with a strong cover like Permabound or Econoclad. Do any of you know a source that will do after-market binding of paperbacks? Thanks again to everyone who responded with the following information: We have been using the following company for as long as I've been here (25 years) - we use them for all of our rebinding, not just paperbacks. They are reasonable and do an excellent job in extending the life of a books that don't get outdated easily. Northwest Library Binder, Inc. 121 Avery St. Walla Walla, WA 99362 http://www.icibinding.com/about/aboutmain.htm I'm sure they have competitors in California! I'd try a Google search for "library bindery" and see what you get (1,340 hits). _________________________________________ We use valley bindery in Fresno 559-237-5224. They do a good job here, plus they pick up and deliver. I wouldn't be surprised if they would come to you, but also ask at your public library who they use because there are often local folks. Also we use AKJ 800-922-6066 www.akjedsvcs.com sometimes, but postage is expensive. __________________________________________ We use a local bookbinder in Minneapolis. I'd suggest checking your yellow pages for someone similar in your area. This company takes the old covers and glues them to hard ones and then they kind of laminate them or something; the books still look appealing with their colorful covers, yet they're more durable. You'd have to buy the paperbacks and take or ship them over. If you have a large quantity, they might come pick them up and deliver them for you. Not as convenient as ordering direct for Perma-Bound but it still fits the bill. __________________________________________ Mackin Books Co, (www.mackin.com) will "MackinBound" (same concept as permabound) any PB you order through them. If you have not yet ordered the sets, perhaps try ordering them through Mackin. I think the charge is about $3 per book, (above the cost of the book) to have it bound. Hope you are all having a wonderful Thanksgiving break!
