Our students really like Sharon M. Draper's books (was National teacher of the year
I think in 1997--Tears of a Tiger, etc.. They're about teenagers themselves.
Also, our female students like the Lurlene McDaniel's books--tear jerker books.
They also like Stephen King, but we only buy selected titles. The Left Behind
series is quite popular with students and teachers alike. Not many adolescent lit
books had been bought until last year (head media specialist retired), and I
started buying books that our students would enjoy reading--not required reading.
There are other writers, but these are the most popular & most checked out.
