Thank you to all who have responded to my inquiry about fiction and literature. They were pretty much what I was expecting. There is no "real" definition to decide where a particular book should go. Most of you said (as I thought I remembered from library classes) that all fiction is actually literature and technically goes in the 800's section, but since it is such a large section, we pulled it out and made it be the fiction section. It also has a lot do to with who your patrons are. I was looking for the information for my job at the used bookstore, not my library, so it is more of a decision of patron needs and the owners choice. There has been a lot of discussion lately about setting up a library like a bookstore. I should have followed that and I may have gotten some more information. Thanks to all who answered so far. This is an awesome group!
