Hi, I'm Enid Milner. I work at a middle school in Newport News. I am =
currently enrolled in a Library Media Certification program. While =
working as the summer school librarian I became aware of the problem =
created by the fact that our library doesn't have an electronic security =
system to prevent students from taking books from the library without =
checking them out. We lose countless books each year because of this. =
It is difficult enough to get students to return books when you know who =
checked them out but when the books simply disappear from the shelves =
there isn't much to do. I'd be interested in learning how other school =
librarians are handling this problem at their schools. Thanks in =
advance for the help.
