Hello All: I recently posted a question about library vs teacher budgets. I got over 100 responses from you. Instead of posting a hit, I thought I would discuss the salient points. First, all but one person agreed that what the library bought with library funds should stay in the library - anything that goes to the teachers should be paid for by departmental budgets. About half of you encouraged me to keep the good will of the teachers and wait a year before changing. The other half suggested I take an immediate and hard stance on this issue. Some suggested that I skirt the issue entirely by looking for online resources for periodicals, which I am doing. Some cautioned that if I insisted that the departments paid for the magazines that went to them, I might lose that portion of the money from my budget - something to consider. Apparently, my school is not the only one that handles magazines this way - there were many others who were in a similar situation. As always, every e-mail I got was encouraging and helpful. Thanks so much for your support and help!!!
