Funny you should make a posting regarding a Friends Group for a schol
library because I was going to ask if anyone who has a friends group would
be interested in being a panel for a workshop at AASL.

If you are interested on being on a panel, please send me an e mail.

A library friends group does any or all of the things you mentioned in your
posting. My friends group in a 6-12 building does fund raising and
programing. It has student and adult members. FOLUSA (Friends of Libraries
USA) has a helpful factsheet on School Friends groups. 1-800-9FOLUSA

By the way a friends group shouldn't be viewed as being in competition with
your PTA but can be an affiliate group of your PTA.
