Hi Judith,
The Christian Jacq series on ancient Egypt centered on Ramses II was
great. They are available at Amazon. The titles in order are:
Ramses: The son of light
Ramses: The eternal temple
Ramses: The battle of Kadesh
Ramses: Lady of Abu Simbel
Ramses: Under the Western Acacia

All are available for about $11 new, or about $5 used. They are
historical fiction, but are very quick reads. I went to Egypt and my
friend had already read them and was amazed and quite pleased to
actually visit the places spoken about in these books.
