I've done a web search but came up empty-handed. Years ago on a PBS special I heard some lyrics to the Sousa march "Stars and Stripes Forever" -- I believe (but am not 100% sure) these were by a very young Stephen Sondheim. It was a commission that was never performed. The gist of the song was that a strange little man walks the town square carrying a sign, a sign the singer does not, in fact, agree with. However, "the man with the sign's a friend of mine, for I know while he walks, I'm free." I would love to get those lyrics for a school concert. Please note this is NOT a political commentary -- just a plain vanilla reference request, folks!
