I am currently getting the Spring edition of my LMC newsletter ready for publication. I am planning a lead article called "Library Q & A for Financially Challenging Times" in which I will attempt to illustrate why, in financially challenging times, our HS library program should be preserved. I will do this in a Question and Answer Format. Here's a sample DRAFT: Q. When I was in school, I wouldn’t be caught dead in the library. Do today’s kids really use it? A. You bet! On average, 100 students per day use the Library Media Center (LMC). Most visit with their classes and others visit on a pass. This number is far greater than a high school teacher’s daily class load. (We are a school of 500+ with one librarian, no aide) Q. Hasn't the Internet made libraries obsolete? A. On the contrary, the Internet has made our library and librarian even more vital to students. We maintain 25 computers with Internet access. The librarian teaches students to efficiently find the information that they need, determine its validity and apply it to their assignment. Got any good Q's and A's that you'd like to share? I will happily compile and post a hit. Thanks!
