TAR:elem. activity/resurrection eggs

I have been asked to select a book and create an activity similar to the one
used in many church programs this time of year with Benjamin's Box and the
resurrection eggs.  Each egg holds a piece of the story from the donkey,
nails, crown of thorns, etc.
I need a story appropriate for school use with no religious connections.
I need a book appropriate for grades K-3 that can use this concept of
putting pieces from the story in a container for students to participate
during the story with their piece.  ANY ideas would be appreciated.  (I do
have There was an old lady who swallowed a fly and the puppet but they've
seen this before)
