There are several genealogy programs that are free and I think they
can be downloaded. Do a search for free genealogy programs or
there might be forms available on Rootsweb.

Do you have Inspiration? You could easily set-up a template in it that
would work, I would think. It would probably be much more cost effective
than purchasing a family tree program. Hope that helps.

I think PAF- Personal Ancestry File from the Mormon (Salt Lake City- Latter
Day Saints) church is "free" or very inexpensive. It will do all you want
and lots more.

Just a word of caution...students who are adopted or have step-parents
may find a project of this sort a little uncomfortable. We've had
teachers who did a similiar kind of thing report that.

You can download PAF5 (Personal Ancestral File) for Windows machines for
free (is that cost low enough? <gg>) from

Click on Order/Download Products (right hand side of green nav bar)
Type PAF in the Quick Search box (left hand side of screen) and click on Go
The oo-o-o-o-o-o-l-l-d-d Mac version is also still available.
(catalog # 30992000, but it's only available on CD for $10.00, not for
download)
The newest PC version is PAF 5.2.18.0, available for free download.
