I use a readability rater for my texts in English, but I was wondering what the standard is for books in Spanish. I can read Spanish well enough to evaluate the series in question, but I don't know how to determine the reading level. It seems artificial to use the same scale as English (especially the number of syllables), and I would like to be more specific than give the reading level of English versions of the books. If you DO use the number of syllables, then do you use normal reading, where "este es" would be blended to 2 syllables, or is this 3? Thanks! Mary Wolfe (a.k.a.
