As long as we're complaining about memberships, here's one for you.
Thru my district I am a member of the NEA. The dues - local, state and
national are about $800 a year.
If I choose to NOT belong, 85% of the dues are taken out of my paycheck
anyway - because the Association negotiates our contract with the local
school board.
Seems like that would be illegal, doesn't it?
I am debating pulling out, since the Association continues to back political
candidates whose opinions on critical issues do not coincide with mine. But
I'll still loose hundreds of dollars.
