Dear Folks,

I am sorry if this topic has made people feel that I am personally
questioning anyone's professionalism or sense of commitment to the field of
librarianship. My issue is not this, or the importance of ALA as an
organization. They do what they must to function at their best. My
opinion and feelings are that right now, this is just alot of money for
membership, personally and professionally. I wish it was otherwise; I am
sorry that it is not. Everyone demonstrates his or her own sense of
commitment to this field in his or her own way, many of which no one is
ever aware of...

I do appreciate all the organizations and institutions who are supportive
and ask so little in return, such as this group. I value this group, this
profession and all of your opinions, whether I agree or not.
