Hi, Everyone,
It is slowly sinking in that school starts for me on August 20th! In =
that going-back-to-school frame of mind, I'd like to suggest a book that =
might be very helpful if you are looking to try some cooperative =
teaching with your music, dance or physical education teachers (if your =
school is lucky enough to have these folks).
The book is _Bravo Livingstone Mouse!_ by Pamela Duncan Edwards with =
illustrations by Henry Cole.
Our Elementary students studied Edwards' books last year during January =
and absolutely loved her books.
This book is about a little mouse who observes several different animals =
who are getting ready for a dance presentation. Foxes are doing the fox- =
trot, snakes are rehearsing the twist, etc. There's mass confusion until =
mouse saves the day by becoming the conductor. The show goes on! This is =
a great character education title, too featuring cooperation, not giving =
up, etc.
I just imagined how cool it would be to actually teach the kids some of =
these dances mentioned in the book.
I hope you enjoy the remainder of your summer holiday. If you are =
already back at work, do all your work with love! (I'm busy trying to =
convince myself to do the same).
